Pay-to-play, mass resignations of leading public officials, even organ selling and the mysterious death of a leading political consultant- it has all the makings of a fictional TV drama - except it's really happened over the past months.

Join DL21C this Wednesday night for an important discussion on the New Jersey corruption scandal, what it means for politics in the NY/NJ region, and what is being done to end the practices that led to the recent sting.

DL21C member Steve Fulop will discuss past and current developments, and we'll be joined by David Chen, currently the City Hall bureau chief who previously covered New Jersey as the Times' NJ bureau chief.

Free for members; $7/nonmembers

See you Wednesday night!

About Steven Fulop:

Steven Fulop serves on the Jersey City Municipal Council representing Ward "E" - the largest district in the city per registered voters which encompasses the entire Jersey City waterfront and downtown.

Councilman Fulop was elected to the city council in 2005 at the age of 27 making him the youngest elected official in Jersey City and the third youngest in the 200 year history of Jersey City. He won an upset victory against an incumbent that was backed by a powerful Hudson County political organization delivering what was the first and only such upset this decade. Since his election to the council, Steven has delivered many reform initiatives that have led to the press branding him in feature articles as "The Young Lion" (The New York Times) and a “Maverick” (The Jersey Journal).

Prior to serving on the City Council, Steven worked in the private sector focused on equity trading. The entirety of his career has been in financial services with the exception of a period in 2002. After the tragic events of 9/11/01, he chose to leave his job at Goldman Sachs to enlist in the United States Marine Corps where he was among the first troops deployed to Iraq. While in Iraq, he was the recipient of numerous awards and recognition. The Star Ledger profiled Steven Fulop about his choice to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Steven received his BA from SUNY Binghamton, his Master in Public Administration from Columbia University, and his Master in Business Administration from the NYU Stern School of Business.
