On Monday, October 28, we invite you to meet
Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, 2014 Candidate for Pennsylvania Governor (D-PA)!
Allyson is a five-term Congresswoman representing Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District (Montgomery County/NE Philly), and will be joining us onMonday, October 28th for a meet and greet.
Congresswoman Schwartz is widely regarded as a strong advocate for middle class families, and has been a voice in Congress on health care, child safety and responsible budgets.
She is the only woman in Pennsylvania's 20 member congressional delegation and has been a champion for diversity and inclusion in local, state, and national elections. She chaired the DCCC recruitment efforts in 2012 which gave us our most diverse class of freshman lawmakers - majority minority - in the history of the House of Representatives. She is giving up her Congressional seat to seek to become PA's next Governor in a race is viewed nationally as the most hotly contested Governors race in 2014.
Current polls show the Congresswoman leading her opponents in the Democratic primary for Governor by a double digit margin, and if she wins she’ll face one of the most conservative, anti-choice incumbent Governors in the nation. (Her abbreviated bio is below, you can see the full version on her website:
Allyson will be speaking with us about what’s been going on with the government shutdown, as well as her historic candidacy to become Pennsylvania’s first female Governor.
You do not want to miss the chance to meet this incredible candidate!

About Congressmember Schwartz
Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz is a tenacious leader and respected policy maker with a demonstrated commitment to achieving forward-thinking, commonsense solutions to the biggest challenges facing Pennsylvania’s middle class families.
Recognized as a “trailblazer” by the Philadel phia Daily News, Schwartz is one of the most accomplished elected officials in Pennsylvania’s recent history. Since entering public service in 1991, Schwartz has tackled state and national budget issues, lowered taxes for middle class families, worked to strengthen and invest in education, spurred growth in emerging Pennsylvania industries, and has been at the forefront of the fight to restore fiscal health to our nation’s health care system.
She now is serving in her fifth term representing Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional district. The district, which is comprised of the blue collar neighborhoods of Northeast Philadelphia and fiscally moderate suburban Montgomery County, has had a tradition of hard fought campaigns. Schwartz has repeatedly won re-election with strong support from Democrats, Republicans, and independent voters.
