On Monday, February 24th, DL21C and our Foreign Affairs Committee will welcome DL21C's own Vincent Grasso, who is visiting on leave from his latest tour of duty in Afghanistan. Vincent, a former Foreign Affairs committee co-chair, is an intelligence officer in the Naval Reserves who has been deployed in Afghanistan since last September. (This is his second deployment - he served a tour in Iraq, in 2006.) Many of you know Vincent, who's been a DL21C leader for more than a decade.
This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with an active-duty intelligence officer serving in Afghanistan.  Vincent's long experience in both the military and in domestic politics gives him an especially keen perspective on Afghanistan's uncertain future as the U.S. prepares to wind down operations in 2014.
Anyone who wants to get a beyond-the-headlines view of what's going on in Afghanistan today, and what we can expect in the coming months will not want to miss this.
Please join us on the 24th for this compelling conversation about American foreign policy, and then save the evening of Friday the 28th for a special film screening of the acclaimed film Inside Buffalo, with some special guests!

In 2010, he was appointed to the Village of Valley Stream Board of Trustees to fill a vacancy and was elected in a special election in March 2010.  He was re-elected to a four year term with over 70% of the vote in 2011 and was appointed by the Mayor to serve for a one year term as Deputy Mayor.  Valley Stream, New York is the 3rd largest village in the United States, with over 50,000 residents.
