We're honored to host John Feinblatt for our kickoff event.

About the event:

Our first "Pizza and Politics" will deal with gun control in NYC and nationally.

While NY Senator Charles Schumer and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy have both floated legislation to close loopholes in gun control laws - post-Giffords, Virginia Tech, Columbine - there has been little movement on connecting the National Instant Background Check System with gun sales and few measures to address high capacity ammunition magazines – among many other things.

Join DL21C for a conversation with the Mastermind behind Bloomberg’s Gun Control Policy agenda, John Feinblatt – Criminal Justice Coordinator for the Mayor of New York City.  Mr. Feinblatt made national headlines when his team exposed dark dealings at gun shows immediately after the Giffords shooting in Arizona.  He will discuss legislative efforts by the Bloomberg administration and policies put in place to address illegal handguns from reaching dangerous people in New York City.

About John Feinblatt:

John Feinblatt is the Criminal Justice Coordinator for Mayor Bloomberg and helps spearhead Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Prior to his appointment, he most recently founded and directed the Center for Court Innovation. He has also served as Director of the Midtown Court, Deputy Executive Director of Victims Services (now Safe Horizon), and a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society. Feinblatt earned a BA at Wesleyan University and a JD from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University.
