Gear up for the Summer Bash by joining us next Monday night, and meet the candidate challenging embattled State Senator Pedro Espada.
Gustavo Rivera has been endorsed by numerous good-government groups, as well as the New Roosevelt Initiative, a 2010 Democratic movement designed to bring more reform-minded candidates into the State Senate.
Senator Espada is the #1 target of these reform groups. As a State Senator, Espada has repeatedly blocked progress for working New Yorkers. He has used taxpayer money for his own enrichment and last year switched political parties, which effectively killed pro-tenant legislation and led to the shut down of state government. He is currently under investigation by the Bronx District Attorney, FBI, IRS, and NYS Attorney General.
Gustavo Rivera is hoping to defeat Senator Espada by running on a reform platform. Gustavo has a distinguished career as a community activist and has been a professor at Hunter College and Pace University, and most recently worked for US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
